WELCOME

SoCal MovieMakers is a 501c3 not-for-profit organization that promotes great moviemaking through cross pollination of ideas and community participation. We offer resources that include monthly meetings headlined by noted industry speakers, community forums, and online showcases of members' work. Future projects include International Film Festivals, as well as a video library where some of the greatest artists share their knowledge of moviemaking.
Based in North San Diego County we have the unique opportunity to leverage our proximity to Hollywood by co-opting all the great talent there, and yet still operate in an independent domain where true creativity can thrive. We encourage anyone, wherever they may be based, (regionally, nationally or internationally) to join in the conversation for greater possibility in the realm of moviemaking. This is an active group, that while involved in thoughtful conversation regarding movies and its processes, is also devoted to producing movies. That means going out there and shooting, editing, and then exhibiting. If you're a writer, director, producer, actor, cinematographer, gaffer, editor, sound designer, composer, special effects artist, animator, costumer, set designer, or anyone else involved in making or even watching movies I invite you to join us on this journey toward great cinema. The possibilities are staggering at what we can accomplish together, and we can inspire each other to creativity previously unseen.
So please get started by registering as a user on this site, and attending our monthly meeting every 2nd Thursday at The Encinitas Library Community Room. Fill out your profile. Let people know who you are. Post a link to your work. Be active in the forums, or upload some of your work to our showcase area. Some people call 'em movies, some films, others videos, and some even pictures or motion pictures. I just call 'em fun. Now let's go make a few, eh?
